Welcome to the Berserkr Relay

A summer run for local XC teams

WHEN: Saturday, June 20. 7 AM start. If needed we will do staggered starting to help with trail congestion and to have finishes as close together as possible. We have a 60-Mile, 50-Mile, and 40-Mile route to help accomodate teams of varying experience and help teams to finish at approximately the same time.
FINAL SCHEDULE WILL BE PUBLISHED ONCE TEAMS ARE POSTED.

START LINE: Race starts at the west side of Legacy Park in North Salt Lake right near the trail. Legacy Park - 1140 W 1100 N, North Salt Lake, UT 84054

COST: $0. Just sign up with your teams. If teams want to contribute to the post race party/BBQ please sign up on the sheet linked below ⬇️.

ROUTE: Majority of the route is using paved trails - Legacy & West Corridor Trails.  We largely avoid any traffic. 14 Road crossings total, most are off of any major streets. Athletes will run on the shoulder of some back streets west of the highway, totaling approximately 4 miles on the roads.

FINISH LINE: 311 N 800 W, West Bountiful, UT - this is a church with a Pavilion and grass field west of the church.

RACE & AFTER PARTY: This is set up similar to a Ragnar road race, we will have the team’s name themselves. Decorate vans. Wear costumes or coordinated attire if they want. And we’ll have a party at the end of the race. There will be 9 square & some water games on a grass field. There is room for other activities & field games as well.

THE PARTY WILL RUN FROM 1:00 - 4:00 PM. We are coordinating the races to finish from approximately 1-2PM.

Map of legs & Description & links to all of the transition zones: See below. Almost every transition zone has a public bathroom.

Total teams: We have room for 30 teams of six people each.

Parents - we need your help to pull this off!!!!

Volunteer to drive a team, OR ride a bike along the route, OR be stationed at a transition zone, AND bring food to the party!

Volunteer Job Descriptions:

- Transition/Exchange Zone Volunteers

Make sure the teams coming in can see that it is an exchange zone. Make sure they come in at the right place, don’t make wrong turns. Cheer them on. Point out restrooms. Save Andy Hyde's 801-869-0116 & Trent Hooper's 406-208-5424 phone numbers so you can report anything odd or injuries or concerns or suggestions. You are part of our eyes and ears on the course to help things run smoothly. The teams should have their own water and snacks. But, if you want to bring a cooler of water to help teams replenish their own bottles is welcome, but not required. Recommend you bring a chair and a sunshade of some kind. It is not mandatory to track teams, if a runner looks lost, help guide them, but the teams should be coming and going together so as long as someone or their team isn’t standing there waiting, they will all be accounted for.

- Drivers

You will need a vehicle that can fit your entire team minus one runner, since there will be one person on the course at all times you won't need a seat for them during the race.

Your role includes:

- Bikers

We have 2 bikers to tag along with each group - the 60-mile, 50-mile, or 40-mile groups. The groups leave 30 mins apart from each other, they will lead out, get to any intersections that seem confusing, one will stop while the other jumps ahead to the next spot. Once the rear biker helps the runners through the the “tricky” portion, then leap frog past the other biker, and repeat up the trail. This ensures that we are passing the runners regularly and keeping them on the route. The main goal is to keep the athletes on course and to have a chance of being available to help nearby on the trails if someone needs us.
