In Norse mythology, Valhalla is the great hall where heroes slain in battle are received in the afterlife—a place representing ultimate honor, glory, and triumph. To the Viewmont Cross Country team, "Valhalla" is the giant concrete "V" on the mountainside.
But it’s much more than a landmark. To our athletes, Valhalla is a grueling 2.2-mile run with over 700 feet of elevation gain. It is a proving ground where we test our limits and show our strength through pain, sweat, and tears!
Conquer the mountain within the official time limits, and you will earn the coveted Valhalla shirt to proudly prove you mastered this great challenge.

Location 2: The A-Frame Church (Full Route - Shirt Eligible)

Staggered Start Times:
6:50 AM: Parents, young athletes, siblings, alumni, other family and friends.
7:00 AM: All remaining runners (starting a few minutes later to chase down the pack and cheer everyone up the mountain!).
The Route:
The official Valhalla Run route starts at the NW corner of the A-Frame church property (see map image below) and running from there north along 650 E, turn right onto Pages Lane, Pages lane turns into 850 E as it turns north - stay on this road all the way to 100 S, turn right onto 100 S, this is where the road narrows as it leads to Fire Break Road, turn right when you hit that dirt road. You follow the main dirt road from there heading toward South Deuel Creek Trailhead, then you turn onto the V Road that heads up the mountain towards the V. You will need to navigate past the gate/fence if this isn't an organized team run when we have it open. Once you reach the top of V Road you then run up the switchbacks that lead you to the base of the concrete V (aka Valhalla!). Stop your timer once you touch the V. Congratulations! You have now gained access to the glorious halls of Valhalla!
